West Bengal is witnessing an intense political struggle between the BJP, TMC and other parties ahead of the fourth phase of the Assembly elections, in which 44 constituencies will go to the polls.
According to an itinerary released by the Saffron Party earlier Thursday, the BJP president’s tours will be in Alipurduar at 12:15 p.m., Dinhata at 1:30 p.m. and Mekliganj at 3:15 p.m.
BJP chief JP Nadda will organize three road shows in West Bengal on Thursday.
Several officials, including three district magistrates, were transferred by the electoral commission on Wednesday, in accordance with an order.
Dakshin Dinajpur DM Nikhil Nirmal was replaced by C Murugan, in accordance with the order issued by the EC.
Enaur Rahman, MD of Purba Bardhaman, has been replaced by Shilpa Gaurisaria. Anurag Shrivastva replaced Purnendu Kumar Maji as Paschim Bardhaman’s DM, he added.

Voting will take place in Tollygunge in the fourth phase on April 10.
As part of the arrangement for the fourth phase, in which elections will be held in 44 Assembly constituencies across five districts, the Election Commission has decided to deploy more than 750 companies of central forces.
Voting will take place in this phase in the town of Howrah, parts of South 24 Parganas which are adjacent to Kolkata, urban parts of Hooghly, in addition to Alipurduar and Coochbehar.
Special General Observer Ajay Nayak will likely visit Purba Bardhaman on Thursday to oversee the organization of the poll, EC sources said.
