2022 Toyota Tundra: 5 things to know about the all-new pickup

Toyota introduced an all-new 2022 Tundra that was designed from the ground up to be the strongest, most capable, and most advanced Tundra yet. Designed, engineered and built in the USA – it’s a true All-American – the full-size pickup promises to exceed expectations with its equipment and performance and turn heads with its new styling.

Check out these five areas where the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra excels:

The Toyota Tundra 2022 is equipped with a twin-turbo V6 engine

Automakers have reduced the number of cylinders and displacement in an effort to improve fuel economy. Gone is the traditional Tundra V8 engine, replaced by a pair of twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engines. The standard i-FORCE engine produces 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The i-FORCE MAX is a hybrid variant with an engineered bell engine system that increases horsepower to 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. Both engines, more powerful and more fuel efficient than the outgoing V8, are mated to a standard 10-speed automatic transmission and a choice of 4×2 and 4×4 transmissions.

2022 Toyota Tundra can tow 12,000 pounds

With a new high-strength box-steel ladder frame, a completely redesigned multi-link rear suspension, and rear shocks mounted outside of the frame side members, the Tundra is capable of towing up to 12,000 pounds, or a maximum of 12,000 pounds. 17.6% improvement over its predecessor. To make towing less difficult, Toyota has designed two new towing / hauling modes for the powertrain. Standard “Tow / Haul” increases throttle response – perfect for light to moderate loads. Heavier loads will use the “Tow / Haul +” mode, which provides a more aggressive throttle response to move the extra mass effortlessly.

Toyota Tundra 2022 features a composite bed

Some car manufacturers still use steel for the construction of the pickup body, which is very strong, but prone to corrosion. Other automakers have tried aluminum, which solved the rust problem, but it is not as durable. Toyota opted for a lightweight, corrosion-resistant and strong Molded Sheet Composite (SMC) body with aluminum reinforcing cross members. The tailgate is 20 percent lighter, thanks to SMC construction, and the bed provides superior resistance against dents, dents and rust. The Toyota Tacoma 2022 bed is offered in lengths of 5.5 feet, 6.5 feet and 8.1 feet.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is full of new technologies

Truck owners want technology, so Toyota has equipped the all-new 2022 Tundra with innovative features. The Tundra will feature Toyota’s all-new multimedia audio system, with five times the processing power of its predecessors, which uses new touch screens and a new human-machine interface (HMI). The standard touchscreen is 8 inches, but a 14-inch screen is available as an option. In addition to a virtual intelligent assistant, which uses easy-to-use conversational phrases during voice operation, Tundra offers cloud-based navigation and Toyota connected services. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra comes standard with Safety Sense 2.5

Unlike other truck makers, which force buyers to spend more money on premium grades to get safety gear, Toyota is offering its all-new 2022 Tundra with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 (TSS 2.5) as standard. on all versions. The pre-collision system with pedestrian detection (PCS with PD) has been improved to detect the vehicle in front, as well as pedestrians in low light conditions. It is also designed to detect oncoming vehicles (or pedestrians) when the Tundra makes a left turn at an intersection – if the PCS with PD detects an impending collision it will provide audio / visual alerts and initiate braking. Automatique.
