Former Niger Delta Affairs Minister Brother Godsday Orubebe held a private meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in Port Harcourt.

It comes three days after Orubebe dumped the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, citing injustice.

Orubebe, in his letter to the PDP President, said the main opposition party was not ready to regain power in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections.

Wike lost the PDP presidential primary to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who also ignored him in his choice of running mate and chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa instead.

He recently held a series of meetings with high-level politicians in Port Harcourt.

On the same day, Wike hosted Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda in Port Harcourt.

Aduda led the PDP leadership in the Senate to meet with Wike two days after he was named Minority Leader to replace former Enyinaya Abaribe who defected from the PDP.
