Armed Forces Day 2022: Governor Ortom lays wreaths [PHOTOS]


As part of the activities marking the end of the 2022 Armed Forces Memorial Day celebration, Governor Samuel Ortom performed a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial Arcade in IBB Square, Makurdi on Saturday.

Governor Ortom, on his arrival at IBB Square, received the national salute from the parade, after which he inspected the guard mounted by men of the armed forces before proceeding to the wreath laying ceremony.

The Governor joined other dignitaries and senior officers in praying for Nigeria and its fallen heroes and laying wreaths.

The governor then released pigeons into the sky to signify peace for Nigeria.

Governor Ortom had earlier during an interfaith service to mark the celebration of Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2022, conveyed Benue State Government’s decision to support every family of fallen security personnel at the Benue defense course from 2017 to date with N500,000 each.

Benue State Deputy Governor, Engineer Benson Abounu, Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, Benue State Assembly Speaker, Right Honorable Titus Uba and representatives of Chiefs of security of the country also laid wreaths on this occasion.
