CHICAGO (TUSEN) — With a dry ridge of high pressure locked in place, skies will be clear Thursday evening and Friday morning.

This high-pressure system will trap pollutants near the surface, causing problems for people with respiratory problems. A day of action on air quality is in place for Friday due to this mass of warm, stagnant air hovering over our region.

Thursday night’s low is 66. Friday’s high is 92, with cooler lakeside temperatures.

High clouds build throughout Friday afternoon as the next system heads our way.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in two waves on Saturday – one in the morning and the other after dark – as the cold front moves through our region.

On Sunday there will be a slow clearing and a dry, gusty northwesterly wind and a high of 82.
