CHICAGO (SCS) — With recent temperatures bringing extreme heat, residents of West Humboldt Park want repair work on the swimming pool at Orr Academy High School done sooner.
Neighbors want their kids to have access to a public pool near their home, like the one in Union Park.
A meeting will be held Thursday with the Chicago Park District regarding the repairs.
Community organizer Corey Braddock says the upcoming opening of Orr’s pool will serve as a “safe haven” for children.
The meeting will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Golden Dome in Garfield Park.
