Finland was elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2022-2024. In addition to Finland, Luxembourg and the United States were elected to the body.

The main message of the Finnish campaign was that human rights are for everyone in a diverse world. The rights of women and girls, the rights of people with disabilities, new technologies, climate change and human rights education were the points highlighted in the Finnish campaign.

The Human Rights Council is the supreme UN body responsible for human rights. Its role is, among other things, to try to promote respect for human rights norms and standards.
