Hiroshima- Hiroshima on Saturday celebrated the 77th anniversary of the atomic bombing by the United States, amid heightened concerns in Japan and elsewhere over Russia’s repeated suggestions that it might resort to nuclear weapons in its war against Ukraine.
Mayor Kazumi Matsui warned in the Declaration of Peace at a memorial ceremony in the western city that as civilian lives are lost in the Russian aggression, the world’s reliance on nuclear deterrence is growing.
