India vs Leicestershire: Virat Kohli advises Prasidh Krishna, he fires Shreyas Iyer at next ball


The Indian team will prepare for the rescheduled fifth Test against England by taking on Leicestershire in a warm-up match on Thursday. The two teams are currently battling at the Uptonsteel County Ground in Leicester.

While India named their full roster in the playing XI, it is interesting to note that four players from the Indian side played for Leicestershire.

Among those who bowled for the Foxes was Prasidh Krishna, who was the only Indian bowler to choose a wicket in the opening session as he dismissed Shreyas Iyer for a duck after taking tips from Virat Kohli.

The incident happened on the 19th during the India heats, when Kohli was seen chatting with Krishna. The 33-year-old gave the young pacer valuable advice regarding his bowling and he responded by dismissing his compatriot Iyer, on a duck.

After talking with Kohli, Krishna was again called into the attack and he fired Iyer to the first ball.

The ball was thrown well outside the stump as Iyer looked to push it towards the covers, but the ball took a considerable advantage off Iyer’s bat and went straight into the gloves of Rishabh Pant who also played for Leicestershire.

Prasidh Krishna’s IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals, also tweeted much the same. Taking to Twitter, the IPL 2022 finalists wrote: “Prasidh, playing for @leicsccc, receives advice from Virat Kohli in the middle of the warm-up match. Dismisses Shreyas Iyer on the next ball.”

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain could only hold 11 balls before being sent back in a dugout.

Meanwhile, speaking of the match, India were 90/5 at lunch on Day 1 as Kohli and KS Bharat united in a 50-point partnership to help the visitors score 133/5 before the rain forced the game to stop.
