During the first day of the Warm-up Tour match between India and Leicestershire, Virat Kohli seemed to be in very good contact. After India dropped five points at Leicester, the former India captain hit a stand over 50 with KS Bharat. He was confident with his shots. He hit four fours and a six. It looked like Kohli was about to score big in the game. However, that was not to be the case. In the 41st round of the day, while facing fast bowler Roamn Walker, Kohli went to practice against a fuller delivery.

The ball looked like it went past Kohli’s bat and over the hands of Leicestershire’s wicketkeeper. The pitcher appealed fervently, and after much deliberation, the umpire held up his fingers. Kohli initially looked relaxed and was surprised when he was passed out. He then questioned the referee about the dismissal, who said Kohli was LBW. The batter then walked away.

The visitors lead 2-1 in the series which had to be halted mid-last year due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in the Indian camp. The rescheduled Test will be played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham from July 1. Ahead of the all-important test, the Indians started their tour with a warm-up match against Leicestershire on Thursday.

The start of the warm-up match was quite entertaining as India fly-half Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill entered the pitch to the sound of bhangra music and dhols. Dancers dressed in traditional Punjabi clothes could be seen dancing as the players made their way to the pitch. Some of the Indian players couldn’t hide their smiles at the situation.

Indian star players Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna have been added to rival Leicestershire County Cricket Club (LCCC). They play under County captain Sam Evans.
