With the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season set to begin, the mood in the Punjab Kings camp appears to be cheerful. The franchise posted a video on social media, where Sarfaraz Khan can be seen emulating Darren Sammy’s style of play in front of West Indian cricketers, and he also receives approval from Chris Gayle. The Indian cricketer’s game was so funny that he left his audience in two, Gayle declaring: “Yeah, it’s Sammy. It’s Sammy for real!”.

The 2021 IPL is set to begin on April 9, with the defending Indian champions Mumbai (MI) set to face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the season opener.
The Punjab-based team will play their first game on April 12, against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The Punjab Kings have had a bittersweet campaign during the 2020 season in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Missing a place in the playoffs, they finished in sixth position in the championship phase, with six wins and eight losses.
Despite an erratic collective display, Punjab captain KL Rahul won the orange cap, scoring 670 points in 14 games. He also recorded a century and five half centuries.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami was their main wicket taker, with 20 layoffs. He finished eighth in the Purple Cap race.
In a bid to fight for the 2021 IPL playoffs, the Punjab Kings roped Australia point guard Jhye Richardson for Rs 14 crore at the players’ auction. Riley Meredith was bought for Rs 8 crore.
During this time they also spent Rs 5.25 crore on Shahrukh Khan. The other new players on the team are Dawid Malan, Moises Henriques and Fabian Allen.
