Since the Indian tour of Australia which began in November of last year, Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan have indulged in endless jokes on social media. The last episode came on Tuesday, after the former England captain made his predictions for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Vaughan has predicted that the Mumbai Indians will win the title for the third year in a row, and if they lose their form by a “bizarre miracle” then the SunRisers Hyderabad will take the trophy. “Early # IPL2021 prediction … @mipaltan will win it … if by bizarre loss of shape @SunRisers will win it,” Vaughan tweeted.

Former Indian opener Jaffer responded to Vaughan’s tweet with a meme to indicate his prediction left MI and SRH fans in despair, while fans at other clubs gloated.

For context, Vaughan had predicted Australia would shut out India 4-0 in the test series after the visitors were eliminated for 36 points in the opener against Australia, a complete victory.

However, despite the departure of captain Virat Kohli after the opener and a wave of injuries, India returned to win the series 2-1.

Jaffer was among the many to troll Vaughan at the time about his prediction.

The two have had several other exchanges since then on Twitter, especially since England visited India shortly after.

Wasim Jaffer has other reasons to hope Vaughan’s prediction goes badly, as he hopes the Punjab Kings, of which he is batting coach, have a good run this season.
