The second match of the UAE stage of IPL 2021 will see two teams at different ends of the IPL points table face off against each other. Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore meet at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi in their first return leg on Monday. The Kolkata Knight Riders have had a tough start to the 2021 IPL season in India, scoring just two wins in seven games to take seventh place on the IPL points table. Their Monday opponents RCB, on the other hand, got off to a good start and rank well in third place, tied by 10 points with the Chennai Super Kings in second. The Bengaluru squad will be eager to make their mark this season and give Virat Kohli his first IPL title in what will be his final season as skipper of RCB.

KKR suffered a heavy blow ahead of the UAE game, with Australian superstar Pat Cummins withdrawing from the tournament for “personal reasons”. Despite a high save rate of 8.83, the Aussie pacer was the biggest wicket taker for KKR before the tournament was shut down.

He had taken nine wickets in seven matches with a best of 3/24. KKR has hired Tim Southee to replace Cummins.

RCB had started its 2021 IPL campaign well, winning five of its seven matches. The break imposed by Covid came at the wrong time for Virat Kohli’s team and they will need to regain their concentration.

Like many other teams, RCB has also been hit by several forfeits.

The team have recruited Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga to replace Australian Adam Zampa.
