Jeremy Renner was trying to avoid hitting his adult cousin when he was run over by his 14,330-pound snowplow on New Year’s Day.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office incident report, filed Friday and published by TUSEN on Wednesday, the Mayor of Kingston and The Avengers The 52-year-old actor used the snowcat to tow his cousin’s truck out of the snow at his property in Reno, Nevada, onto Main Street. After that, the squad started sliding sideways down a hill, so Renner got out. However, the emergency brake was not applied and the team, walking on a track, ran into his nephew. Renner tried to stop it and was pulled down and crushed.

“Pistenbully’s snowplow began to slide, causing Renner to get out of the vehicle without applying the emergency brake,” the sheriff’s report concluded. “While the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, based on our mechanical inspection, it is believed that the parking brake prevented the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to prevent injury to [his nephew]he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

The report also revealed that the snowcat’s cabin brake indicator light was not working and noted that “mechanical issues may have played a role in this accident”.

It also said disorder was not believed to be a factor in the incident.

According to the report, Renner — who broke “30 plus bones” in the accident — was interviewed at the hospital on Jan. 5. He told investigators that after the truck was towed onto the street, the snowplow “started sliding sideways” and then it started rolling down the hill.” [his nephew]so he “tried to stop or divert the Pistenbully.”

To get into the cab, Renner had to climb onto the moving track and was “immediately pulled under the left track”. He was “completely crushed” under the vehicle and had “extreme [difficulty] to breathe.”

After the plow “rolled over him,” he “continued down the road.”

With the right side of his chest “collapsed” and upper body “crushed”, he remained on the ground and “focused on his breathing”, while his cousin and others helped him until first responders could get there amid the blizzard.

Yahoo Entertainment has reached out to Renner’s spokesperson for comment on the report.

On New Year’s Day, it was reported that Renner had been airlifted to hospital after the accident. The snowplow was impounded by authorities to rule out mechanical failure.

Renner underwent two surgeries while in ICU. He was released after more than two weeks and continues to recover at home. Over the weekend, he shared an image of a physiotherapy session.
