Josh Singh, a young Sikh boy, is going viral after he mentored Neymar at FIFA World Cup


Indian football fans were delighted to see Brazilian superstar Neymar walk onto the pitch with a young Sikh boy during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Brazil played Serbia in their opening group stage match in Qatar late on Thursday night. The young Sikh boy, identified as Josh Singh, was the playing escort for the Paris Saint-German star.

Twitter erupted when fans spotted Singh on the pitch with the top footballer. Josh Singh was a player counselor, which is kids who walk in on players in sports like football and cricket to promote awareness around specific campaigns.

“Wow. Our own little Sikh boy with Neymar on their national anthem,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Good to see the young Sikh boy with Neymar Brazil,” wrote another.

Neymar and Brazil got off to a winning start at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Two second-half goals from Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison sealed the deal as Brazil beat Serbia 2–0. Brazil is among the favorites to reach the final and take home the trophy. In the remaining two group stage matches, they will now meet Uruguay and South Korea.
