Lakshya Sen crashes out of Hylo Open first round | Badminton news

India’s top shuttle Lakshya Sen suffered an outright defeat to Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus in men’s singles on Tuesday, sending him out of the Hylo Open badminton tournament in Saarbrucken, Germany, in the first round. The 21-year-old Sen, world bronze medalist and champion of the Commonwealth Games, lost 12-21 5-21 in the opening match which lasted just 27 minutes. It was a poor showing from the seventh-seeded Indian as he was outplayed by his opponent. Sen struggled throughout the match.

In the first game, Sen lost the way after 2-2 and Angus left the Indian far behind to easily take a 1-0 lead.

The second game was even worse for Sen, as he allowed Angus to pick up nine consecutive points in a phase to clinch the game.

In the mixed doubles, the Indian duo of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto lost in the first round 13-21 12-21 to the Chinese duo of Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping.

Kidambi Srikanth, Sameer Verma, HS Prannoy, Saina Nehwal, Malvika Bansod, French Open champion duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are among the Indians participating in the Super 300 tournament.
