MAGA Victory: Trump Endorsed Kari Lake Wins Controversial Arizona GOP Gubernatorial Primary

Former President Trump’s record of endorsing winning candidates continued this week, as former newscaster and journalist Kari Lake won a thrilling race in the Republican gubernatorial primary in Arizona. The race between Lake and Karrin Taylor Robson remained too close to call until Thursday, two days after Election Day, when the The US Express News announced the race for Lake.

Lake will now face Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs in the November general election.

Razor Thin Race

While ballots coming in before Election Day gave Robson an early lead, results from polling stations from Election Day and Maricopa County releasing the results of their ballot entries gave Lake the win.

The race became a referendum of sorts between Lake, a Trump-approved candidate, and Robson, who was supported by former Vice President Mike Pence, current Arizona governor Doug Ducey, and former New Jersey governor Chris Christie.

Trump candidates won in many races in Arizona, including Senate, Secretary of State, Attorney General, U.S. House seats, and State House seats. Arizona was a pivotal place in the 2020 election and will certainly be again in 2024.

Lake has been very vocal about her views on the 2020 election. She has stated that she would deny Joe Biden’s 2020 Arizona victory, saying, “He lost the election and he shouldn’t be in the White House.”

Lake has also not been afraid to send back to leftist media outlets what they are trying to dish out.

Last round of primaries goes well for Trump candidates

The final round of Tuesday night’s primaries was a good one for Trump-approved candidates. In addition to Arizona, Michigan candidates did well.

Rep. Peter Meijer, one of a handful of House Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump, lost his key race against former Trump administration official John Gibbs.

Those who voted for impeachment are singled out one by one, with Meijer being the last. Trump took to his own social media platform Truth Social and wrote, “Not a good time for Impeachers – 7 down, 3 to go!” Tudor Dixon won the GOP gubernatorial primary and will face Governor Gretchen Whitmer in November.

Nationally, it was a good night to be a Trump candidate. Of the 42 approvals Trump gave in this most recent primaries, 32 won their respective races, and some may still be pending.

Democrats brace for November

For Democrats, this fall’s election night could look a lot like Tuesday. Democrats have pinned their hopes on things like overthrowing Roe vs. wade and the January 6 hearings, but those aren’t priorities for Americans. Rising inflation and high gas and food prices are.

Joe Biden’s consistently low approval ratings have Democrats saying out loud they don’t want him to rejoin in 2024, and many are hesitant to invite him on the campaign trail with them.

Another takeaway from Tuesday night’s primaries: As Democrats and the media try to downplay Donald Trump’s influence over the Republican Party, there’s no doubt it plays a huge role. Biden’s unpopularity coupled with Trump’s winning track record could be a deadly combination for Democrats.

Several other states will have primaries in the coming weeks, including Wyoming, where Liz Cheney is trailing her opponent, Harriet Hageman, by about 20 points. “Number 8” for Trump could wait in the wings.
