Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray moved from his official residence in South Mumbai to the family home in the Bandra suburb on Wednesday evening, hours after he offered to quit the top job amid the leader’s rebellion of Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde.
The CM left ‘Varsha’, his official residence, for Matoshree, the Thackeray family’s private bungalow, amid great drama as the political crisis that rocked his government following Shinde’s revolt two days ago , showed no signs of reflux.
Shiv Sena leaders like Neelam Gorhe and Chandrakant Khaire were present at ‘Varsha’ when Thackeray left the official residence.

Party workers waved slogans and showered the CM with petals as he left his official home with his family members around 9:50 p.m. Earlier, bags containing his belongings were seen being loaded into cars.
During a ‘Facebook Live’ session in the evening, Thackeray had announced that he would be leaving ‘Varsha’ and residing at ‘Matoshree’.
Thackeray, who also leads the Shiv Sena, had moved to “Varsha” after becoming chief minister in November 2019.
However, the Shiv Sena’s chief spokesman, Sanjay Raut, claimed that Thackeray would not resign following the rebellion of a section of party MPs, and maintained that the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would prove its majority to the Assembly if necessary. The NCP and Congress are also part of the MVA.
