ANAHEIM, California (KABC) — The 33-year-old man seen on video kicking and beating a dog in an Anaheim apartment complex has turned himself in, police said.
Albert Frank Abad Jr. turned himself in to the Anaheim Police Department early Thursday morning.
Police say he is the man seen in a viral social media video abusing what appears to be an all-black goldendoodle.
REMARK: The video above is from an earlier report on this case.
The incident happened at Gateway Apartments last week.
The video shows the man chasing the dog down a hallway, then punching and kicking the animal and dragging it away before disappearing from view.
The images have enraged residents of the building and local dog owners, who are calling for the man to be found and arrested.
Anaheim Police Sgt. Shane Carringer told Eyewitness News last week that the department was inundated with calls about the case.
“We absolutely appreciate the passion people have for this circumstance, but we ask them to temper their passion and have some faith in our ability to solve this crime, to investigate this crime,” Carringer said.
The incident is still under investigation. Police said further details will be released as soon as they become available.
Meanwhile, researchers are still looking for the dog seen in the video.
This is a story in development. This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
