Murder charges and arrests in the Sandringham Superette case

Police have charged one man with killing Janak Patel outside an Auckland Superette, and charged another with robbery.

Police said Patel, 34, was fatally stabbed on Wednesday night during a confrontation outside the Rose Cottage Superette in Sandringham, where he worked.

On Friday night, Detective Scott Beard said a 34-year-old man was taken into custody at a New Lynn address and charged with aggravated robbery and murder.

A 42-year-old man was also charged with theft in connection with the incident.

Both were due to appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the case.

They particularly want to hear from anyone who saw a dark colored Honda Inspire car in areas near the Rose Cottage Superette in Sandringham on Wednesday.
