Netflix unveils first look at Sandman on TUDUM


Sandman’s first look trailer is glorious and breathtaking. At the TUDUM online-only event on Saturday, Netflix gave us our first look at its serial adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s dark fantasy graphic novel about the story King Dream (Tom Sturridge, of Being Julia). who escapes captivity after a century and sets out to restore order to his kingdom. Gaiman, Sturridge, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste from Killing Eve (who plays Dream Death’s sister) showed up at TUDUM. They also unveiled The Sandman character posters. Wonder woman Writer Allan Heinberg developed The Sandman for Netflix and is also an executive producer alongside Gaiman and David S. Goyer (Man of Steel).

In addition to Sturridge and Howell-Baptiste, The Sandman also stars Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) as the Ruler of Hell Lucifer – he’s the same character from Lucifer, but much closer to the comics – Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) as Nightmare the Corinthian, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as occult charlatan Roderick Burgess, Asim Chaudhry (People do nothing) and Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars at # 42) as Abel and Cain, theater actor Mason Alexander Park as the androgynous brother of Dream, Desire, and Donna Preston (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) as from Desire’s twin of Despair.

The Sandman also has roles for Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as occult detective Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson (Nip / Tuck) as Burgess lover Ethel Cripps, David Thewlis (Wonder woman) as mad son of Cripps John Dee / Doctor Destiny, debutante Kyo Ra as prey of Corinthian Rose Walker, Stephen Fry (Gosford Park) as bodyguard of Walker Gilbert, Razane Jammal (Carlos) as Widow of Walker, Lyta Hall, Sandra James-Young (EastEnders) as Benefactor of Walker, Unity Kinkaid, and Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille) as the voice of Dream Matthew’s raven emissary.

The Sandman is due in 2022 on Netflix in India and around the world.
