‘Not in my upbringing’: pilot reacts stylishly to Gehlot’s ‘Gaddar’ jibe

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot returned to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday for his “traitor” rebuttal, saying it was inappropriate for a leader like him to use such language at a time when the Congress party united should be seen against the BJP and should work to strengthen the hand of its senior leader Rahul Gandhi, who sits on nationwide ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

He further added that it was not part of his upbringing to use words like “nikamma, naakara, gaddar and so on”. Speaking to news channel The US Express News earlier in the day, Ashok Gehlot called him ‘Gaddar’ and said that the party’s high command cannot make someone Chief Minister who has betrayed the party.

Speaking to the PTI news agency, Sachin pilot said that “swearing, mudslinging and accusations that are circulating are of little use”.

“I have seen Ashok Gehlot ji’s statements against me today. Someone who is so experienced, senior, and to whom the party has given so much, it is not befitting someone who has so much experience to use this language, such utterly making false and unfounded accusations,” Pilot said.

“There is no point if we have to fight the BJP unitedly…previously, Ashok Gehlot Ji also made such allegations against me for a long time,” he added.

Pilot stressed that the priority of the Congress party should be to focus on the elections in Gujarat and Ashok Gehlot is the party’s senior observer for those elections. He added that they should work on strengthening the hand of Rahul Gandhi whose ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will soon enter Rajasthan.

“It’s time for us to work together to defeat the BJP because only the Congress can defeat the BJP. I think this swearing, mudslinging and accusations going around is of little use,” he said.

Sachin Pilot walked alongside Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi during the Madhya Pradesh stage of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

The exchange between senior leaders of the Congress Party explains the deep power struggle within the party in Rajasthan, which has twice triggered a political crisis of sorts in the state in the past four years.
