Oak Forest residents told to shelter from barricade situation

Residents of Oak Forest in and around the 5500 block of Ann Marie Lane are being told to take shelter in place as rescuers are at the scene of a barricaded subject, the city said.

According to a post on the city’s Facebook page, the situation started around 7 a.m.

TV news reports show smoke coming from a house in that area. The message stated that there is a heavy police and fire presence in the area.

Oak Forest officials shared that Central Avenue is closed from Independence to 155th Street, and that 155th is closed between Central and Long Avenue.
