The Osun State branch of the Accord Party called the destruction of its billboards barbaric and unjustified.
It was then that the party also sounded the alarm over the wave of politically motivated attacks on innocent citizens of the state.
In a statement signed by Stephen Owolabi, deputy chairman of Akin Ogunbiyi’s new media campaign organization, Osun’s deal party frowned on the destruction of its statewide billboards by thugs suspected of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The statement which revealed that the party was aware that its opponents in the Saturday July 16 gubernatorial election in the state were nervous, added that their rejection by voters brought them out to distract.
He said, “Our party is known as a peaceful party. We conducted our campaigns with great caution and tried as much as possible to avoid any physical encounter with any other political party.
While lamenting that the APC and PDP are known to engage in breeding, breeding and financing thugs, he called on the police and other state security services to quell the egg before it degenerates into a free-for-all and also warned that The Accord Party will not sit back and see the damage to its properties unchallenged.
“We know our opponents are nervous seeing how voters rejected them and are now pledging their wholehearted support to our candidate Dr Akin Ogunbiyi and are here to distract us.
“It is known statewide that the APC and PDP are engaged in breeding, breeding and funding thugs and we can see how they clashed. We are sure that the agents of these rejected political parties are all there to cause breaches of state security.
The party has urged the police and other state security services to nip the situation in the bud before it escalates into an every man for himself because he will not sit back and see the damage done to its properties without dispute.
