Recalling an October 2022 State Assembly resolution against the imposition of Hindi, MK Stalin said, “Our fight against the imposition of Hindi will continue. Our efforts to protect Tamil will continue forever.”

He claimed, “BJP government is brazenly engaged in Hindi imposition.” Though it celebrates Hindi Day, the same was not the case with other state languages.

“The importance given to Hindi is not just ignoring other languages, but it is tantamount to destroying them,” he said.

He further said that the Center has awarded Rs 643 crore between 2017-2020 for promoting Sanskrit. The allocation for Tamil was just under Rs 23 crore, he added.

“We are not an enemy of any language. You can learn as many languages ​​as possible for your own benefit. At the same time, we will oppose any attempt to impose anything,” the Chief Minister added.

After the various anti-Hindi agitations, former Prime Minister CN Annadurai had introduced legislation to ensure a bilingual formula of Tamil and English, making the youth of the state successful in many parts of the world, CM Stalin said.

“Anna did this to ensure that the sacrifice of the language martyrs was not lost,” MK Stalin said of the bilingual formula.

He recalled that Anna, the founder of DMK, gave Tamil Nadu its current name after she first brought the party to power in 1967.
