Pakistan national cricketer attempts suicide after failing to make Intercity Championship: report | Cricket News


A young cricketer from Hyderabad in the southern province of Sindh attempted suicide after failing to be selected for his home side in the Pakistan Cricket Board Intercity Championship. Shoaib, a fast bowler, cut his wrist and was rushed to hospital by family members in a precarious condition on Tuesday. A family member said that after not being picked by his coach during the Intercity Championship tryouts, Shoaib was confined to his room due to depression.

“We found him in the bathroom of his bedroom with his wrist severed and unconscious and immediately transported him to hospital where he remains in critical condition,” the family member said.


In February 2018, an under-19 cricketer Muhammad Zaryab of Karachi hanged himself to death in his home after being dismissed from the city’s under-19 team.
