Samsung Galaxy S23+ comes with increased battery capacity of 4,700 mAh: report


Samsung is reportedly planning to increase the battery capacity of the Galaxy S23+. Compared to the 4,500mAh battery on the Galaxy S22+, the Galaxy S23+ is expected to pack a 4,700mAh battery. However, the vanilla Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra are not expected to receive the same treatment. Samsung hopes to achieve this increase in battery capacity without significantly impacting the thickness and weight of the Galaxy S23+. An earlier report has claimed that the Galaxy S23 series will be almost the same size as the Galaxy S22 series.

According to a report by The Elec, Samsung could increase the battery density of the Galaxy S23+ while keeping the dimensions almost the same as the Galaxy S22+. It’s clear that Samsung SDI, a battery manufacturing arm of the company, could use ‘stacking’ technology to achieve this feat.

Samsung could layer the battery’s inner material like a staircase to expand the battery’s capacity without increasing its thickness. However, the South Korean tech giant is not expected to adopt this technology for the standard Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

A recent report mentions that the Galaxy S23 series is expected to be almost the same size as the Galaxy S22 handsets. The standard Galaxy S23 would measure 146.3×70.9×7.6mm with a 6.1-inch screen, while the standard Galaxy S22 measures 146.0×70.6×7.6mm.

Similarly, the Galaxy S23+ could measure 157.8 x 76.2 x 7.6mm with a 6.6-inch display, which is only a small increase over the dimensions of 157.4 x 75.8 x 7, 64mm from the Galaxy S22+. Finally, the Galaxy S23 Ultra might measure 163.4×78.1×8.9mm with a 6.8-inch display, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra measures 163.3×77.9×8.9mm.
