Suspect tries to steal parked car during dangerous chase through San Fernando Valley


LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A suspect led police on a dangerous chase on surface streets and highways through the San Fernando Valley Friday night.

The AIR7 HD had finished the chase around 9:20 p.m., but the Los Angeles Police Department had begun the pursuit of the reported stolen Lexus in Hollywood a few minutes earlier.

There were cases when the suspect drove quickly through streets on the surface, ignoring red lights and driving into oncoming traffic.

In the Burbank area, the driver got out and attempted to steal a parked car before giving up and getting back into the Lexus.

The chase took place on multiple highways, including the 101, 5 and 210.

On the 210 Freeway in the Sylmar area, the suspect drove through a construction zone before rejoining the freeway.

The chase ended after the suspect hit a spike strip and came to a stop on the 210 in the Sunland-Tujunga area around 10:10 PM.

The suspect was arrested without incident.
