Pakistan sealed a massive victory over India in their opening match of the T20 World Cup at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. The Babar Azam-led squad won 10 wickets in their Super 12 match and will aim to strengthen their form in the coming matches. Chasing a 152-run goal, Pakistan reached 152 unbeaten in 17.5 overs, with Azam crushing an unbeaten shot of 68 on 52 deliveries. It wasn’t just Babar, who towered over the Indian bowlers in their pursuit. The skipper’s opening partner Mohammad Rizwan also went undefeated in the match and was at his majestic best, playing a 79-stroke of 55 deliveries.

ICC took to social media to share a video that revealed Rizwan had already planned his selection of shots during a phantom batting practice before the game. In the footage, the goalkeeper-beater can be seen practicing a few shots that he successfully executed against Virat Kohli’s outfit.

ICC captioned the video, “Dream. Watch. Perform. Mohammad Rizwan’s masterpiece began before a bullet was thrown.”

Rizwan’s shot consisted of six fours, three sixes as he sewed a 152-point partnership with his skipper. It also turned out to be the biggest opening partnership in T20 World Cup history and also Pakistan’s second biggest partnership in a T20I for all wickets.


Initially, India posted 151 for seven with captain Kohli scoring the best for his team. He smashed 57 bullets out of 49 bullets. Rishabh Pant made the other notable contribution, registering 39 out of 30 deliveries.
