Third suspect arrested in Graham Village Apartments double murder


A third person has been arrested in connection with a double murder of two teenagers in the Graham Village apartment on August 25.

On Friday, investigators from the Graham Police Department and the Durham Police Department assisted officers on probation and parole by arresting Tayjon Martre Laury, 20, for a probation violation. He was returned to Alamance County, where he received a $1 million secured bond.

At the same time, Laury was also charged with two counts of complicity after being committed to first degree murder by Graham Police. He was given a $2 million secured bond on that charge.

Earlier this week, Graham police charged a 17-year-old man and a 14-year-old man with first degree murder in connection with the August double murder at the Graham Village Apartments. Their names will not be released because they are minors. Both are being held in local juvenile detention centers.

At approximately 1am on August 25, police responded to the Graham Village Apartments on East Hanover Road to a report of gunfire in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found an 18-year-old man with a clear gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial information at the time did not indicate that there were any other victims.

Later that day at approximately 9:45 am, Burlington Police Department investigators contacted Graham Police detectives regarding a missing persons investigation. They stated there was reason to believe their case was related to the shooting incident earlier that morning.

Graham detectives responded to Graham Village Apartments again to investigate the area.

At about 11 a.m., officers found the bodies of two 16-year-old men in the wooded area behind the apartment complex, who, according to law enforcement officers, had apparently been victims of gunshot wounds.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 336-570-6711 and speak directly to Captain Duane Flood of the Criminal Investigations Division. The public can also leave information anonymously by contacting Alamance County Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100.
