Topeka Police are investigating the homicide of 39-year-old Mack Lee. He was found at 608 SW Lincoln.


Topeka police were investigating what they described as a “suspicious death” in the 600 block of SW Lincoln on Friday.

Topeka police were investigating Saturday the murder of Mack Lee, 39, who was found dead Friday morning at 608 SW Lincoln.

Lee’s cause and manner of death remained under investigation. No arrests had been made.

Officers found Lee’s body after being called to the scene shortly after 10 a.m., Topeka Police Lt. Jerry Monasmith said.

After initially reporting that police had been dispatched to the scene to check on Lee’s well-being, Monasmith corrected this Friday night to say they had been dispatched there for a call regarding a “past assault with medical response “.

He added, “The Topeka Police Department Homicide Unit is reviewing all investigative leads and evidence as the case progresses.”

The home where Lee was found was a rental property, according to Shawnee County Assessor’s Office records.

Lee became Topeka’s first homicide victim of 2022. The city recorded 14 homicides in 2021.
