Delvin Pérez appeared to be enjoying his home run on Thursday, until he discovered much too late that the ball was caught for an out. (Watch the video below.)

Pérez, of the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds minor league team, hit a drive against the Gwinnett Stripers and looked certain the ball had flown over the wall. He looked at the majestic bow, waved his club and began rounding the bases.

But he didn’t notice that a strong wind made it an easy catch for the leftfielder. Still, Pérez kept jogging to home plate in celebration.

Watch his head grab “d’oh!” moment when he finally realized what had happened:

Pérez complained afterwards that the ball did not go over the fence. On Instagram, he noted that his bat’s exit speed was 107 miles per hour and resulted in just a “fly-out.”
