June 23 – A woman is charged with depositing 29 checks totaling $91,000 into an account without the victim’s permission or knowledge, Decatur police say.
Melissa Ann Hale, 48, was the 79-year-old victim’s guardian, police said. She was arrested Thursday on 10 counts of third-degree forgery and first-degree larceny. She is in Morgan County Jail on bail set at $165,000.
On June 16, a representative from the Morgan County Human Resources Department filed a report on the matter with the police.
