WWE star returns to ring for first time in over a year

For weeks, WWE kicked off a storyline on SmackDown with Naomi trying to get Sonya Deville to let her wrestle.

Deville closed her requests and pushed her away because there are more important things to do on the show. The storyline feels very familiar to some of the real frustrations former WWE stars have expressed about not being used.

Last night on SmackDown, it was made clear what the goal of Naomi’s script was. After going to the ring to make her requests again, Naomi was pushed back by Deville and told her to leave the ring. Naomi then said she could step into the ring with Deville and slam the “GLOW in your face”.

The segment ended with Deville calling security to have Naomi removed from the arena, but it certainly looks like Deville is about to bring her back into the ring.

The last time Deville wrestled was at SummerSlam 2020. She lost to her former friend / tag team partner Mandy Rose and it was stipulated that she would quit WWE if she lost. The real reason she was taken out of WWE was because she was about to deal with the legal case of the man who was allegedly hunting her down and trying to kidnap her.

Deville returned to the authority role earlier this year and it was reported in July that she was set to return to the ring. Deville trained at the Performance Center for months in anticipation of her return to the ring.

It looks like Naomi vs. Deville will be performing soon.
